The new MB&F LM101 EVO, reborn to wear

It seems like ancient times, but from a watchmaking perspective, MB&F's Legacy Machine dynasty was just getting started. The LM collection, launched in 2011, completely revolutionized our perception of MB&F's galactic design language. Drawing inspiration from 19th-century watchmaking, Max Büsser envisioned a massive balance wheel suspended above the dial, which became the collection's defining feature. The third LM, the LM101, arrived in 2014. Unlike its siblings, the LM101 was smaller, thinner, and simpler—a "volks," if you will, version of its more complex siblings—and the first LM to be powered by an in-house movement developed with the help of its "friend" Kari Voutilainen. During Geneva Watch Days 2025, MB&F unveiled the EVO version of the LM101. Through a series of enhancements, the LM101 EVO has become even more rugged and better equipped for everyday wear and active lifestyles.

In short, the EVO treatment encompasses a series of design and engineering improvements designed to make the watch even more robust and durable, making it even more suitable for everyday wear. The EVO treatment features a redesigned, more water-resistant case with a screw-down crown, a proprietary FlexRing shock absorber, and an integrated rubber strap. In 2020, the EVO treatment debuted on the grand complication LM Perpetual, a groundbreaking QP developed in collaboration with watchmaking genius Stephen McDonnell. In 2022, the EVO treatment was applied to the LM Split Escapement and again on the Legacy Sequential EVO, one of MB&F's most ambitious and complex chronographs. copy MB&F EVO LM101 EVO watches

This year marks MB&F's 20th anniversary, and to celebrate, the brand will release two LM101 EVO models. Both watches feature a lightweight 40mm titanium case, 16.5mm thick, and are paired with either a salmon green or malachite green (CVD) dial. You'll notice that the case diameter and height remain unchanged; after all, this height corresponds to the massive 14mm diameter balance wheel, secured by a double-arched bridge and protected by a high-domed sapphire crystal.

The arched, mirror-polished bridge spanning the 9 to 11 o'clock positions on the dial has been slightly redesigned at the underside. The bridge's connection to the baseplate is now more streamlined and refined, and the escape wheel features MB&F's signature battle-axe detailing. copy De Bethune DB25xs Starry Varius

The time and power-reserve subdials have also been updated, now featuring black dials with silver bezels. The hours are indicated by hour-markers and newly designed white gold hands, and the power-reserve indicator has been expanded to 60 hours, compared to 45 hours on the classic LM101.

To protect the manually wound movement from shocks, the brand's proprietary FlexRing shock absorber is embedded between the movement and case. This 3D movement, developed in-house by MB&F, features a darkened finish, befitting the more modern and sporty spirit of the EVO. The movement is adorned with Côtes de Genève patterns, polished bevels, gold chatons, blued screws, and curved plates and bridges – all traditional Haute Horlogerie craftsmanship overseen by Kari Voutilainen.
The new LM101 EVO watch is presented on a white or gray rubber strap secured with a titanium folding clasp.
